Florida passes New York and now is 3rd Most Populated State

This past week the census bureau has officially announced that the state of Florida has passed New York and is now the 3rd most populated state in the nation. The sunshine state trails only California and Texas and displaces the Empire State to #4. This change comes at no surprise and has long been known and would eventually happen as more people continue their migration south.

The June 2014 population had Florida with 19.9 million residents and New York with 19.7 million residents. The greater Miami-Fort Lauderdale-Palm Beach metropolitan area is the states largest with close to 6 million residents.
